Gil’s family emigrated to the United States around 1830 from County Mayo and County Wexford. Margaret is a first generation American, with her parents, Jim and Bridie Beirne Conlon, emigrating to the United States from Ireland in the early 1900’s. Both Gil and Margaret enjoy visiting their many cousins still living in Ireland and celebrating their heritage with their children and grandchildren.

Upon learning that they were named Grand Marshals, Gil said, “We thank everyone involved for this great honor! Personally, I want to especially thank my wife, Margaret, who has really made all of this possible.”
