Pass Go, Collect Town Businesses in New Game

Hackettstown-Opoly available to game players, raising funds for local schools.

Could you imagine a Hackettstown where doing something wrong would get you time at Leo’s Lunch?

Or receiving $250 every time you passed Skylands Pharmacy?

Kellene Addison imagined just that for her hometown, and made a game out of it.

Following in the footsteps of the world-famous Monopoly board game, Addison, through her company 521 Promo, has designed Hackettstown-Opoly featuring everyone’s favorite local businesses instead of road names.

The company holds fundraisers for towns all over the country, Addison said, and stumbled upon the board game idea while searching the Internet.

Addison connected with Mayor Maria DiGiovanni last summer who thought it was a great idea, the game-maker said. Upon DiGiovanni’s recommendation, proceeds from the sale of the game will go directly to the Hackettstown Board of Education.

Addison said her family has lived in Hackettstown for more than 60 years and that’s why she decided to start the fundraiser here. The board game highlights some 30 local businesses from eateries to banks and car dealerships.

The game is available for $24.99 and can be purchased at Piggy’s Deli, Frank’s Pizza, Leo’s Lunch, Affordable Vacuum, Fulton Bank, Calico Flowers, High Street Collision Center, Skylands Community Pharmacy, Kristina Michele and Re-Style.

The one-of-a-kind game can also be purchased through the website at hackettstownopoly.com.
