Emergency Deck Repairs To Bridge Over Cooper River Begin Monday

A detour will be put in place during emergency repairs to the Grove Street Bridge.

Emergency deck repairs to the Grove Street Bridge over the Cooper River will begin on Monday, Oct. 22, Camden County officials announced. During construction, a detour will be put in place.

Starting Oct. 22, traffic will not be permitted to travel north on Grove Street, from Haddonfield Borough toward Route 70, over the bridge during daytime hours. Work will begin at 6 a.m. and the bridge will reopen to traffic in the evening for the duration of the project.

A detour will be implemented at Kings Highway and will take traffic around the work zone on Park Boulevard. Southbound traffic, from Route 70 toward Haddonfield, will remain open for the duration of the project and will not be impeded by construction.

It is anticipated that the project will be completed by November 2. The exact timing of the project may be altered by weather and other factors. Pedestrian access will be maintained during the construction process.

“While working the bridge structure, crews found that additional work needed to be performed on the deck of the bridge,” Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo, liaison to the Camden County Department of Public Works, said. “This emergency repair needs to be completed before temperatures drop further and we miss this window of opportunity to complete the project.”
