Haddonfield Boys Basketball Team Captures State Title
The Bulldawgs won the title with a 62-45 win over Newark Central.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — The Haddonfield Memorial High School boys basketball team overcame a number of adversities en route to a state championship.
The Bulldawgs capped their quest with a 62-45 win over Newark Central in the NJSIAA State Group 2 championship game, according to nj.com. Mike DePersia lead the way with 22 points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals and a blocked shot in the win. Will Bond had 13 points, three rebounds and two steals. Dylan Heine had 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and a blocked shot in the championship win.
Haddonfield advanced to the championship game with a 43-39 win over Rumson-Fair Haven in the state semifinals. Dan Fleming’s three-pointer with one minute, 25 seconds left in the game put Haddonfield ahead, 41-39, and two made free throws by DePersia sealed the win.

Bond, who broke his wrist in January, had 10 points in the win. Bond’s injury was among a number suffered by some of the Bulldawgs’ key players. Haddonfield also played all its home games at Cherry Hill East due to renovations at its own gym.
Haddonfield won the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 title with a 63-45 win over Lower Cape May. Aiden Blake lead the way with 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals in the win.

In the semifinals, DePersia hit the game-winning putback to lead Haddonfield to a 54-53, win over Camden in the semifinals. That win ended Camden's streak of five straight sectional titles.
Haddonfield opened the tournament with a 62-44 win over Cape May Tech. Dylan Heine lead the way with 15 points, two rebounds, two assists, three steals and a blocked shot.
In the quarterfinals, the Bulldawgs defeated Haddon Heights, 52-45. Dan Fleming had 19 points, eight rebounds and five blocked shots in the win.
Haddonfield (29-3) will now participate in the Tournament of Champions. It opens the tournament against Nottingham in Toms River on Tuesday. To view the full bracket, visit nj.com.
