Haddonfield Football Team Dominates Rival On Thanksgiving Day

Haddonfield followed its sectional title win last week with a dominant Thanksgiving Day performance.

HADDONFIELD, NJ - The Haddonfield Memorial High School football team remained undefeated and built strong momentum going into their first bowl game with a big win on Thanksgiving Day.

The Bulldawgs defeated Haddon Heights, 41-8, to improve to 12-0, according to nj.com. Tommy Batson led the way with a pair of touchdown runs, of 10 and 11 yards.

Jay Foley threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Drew Gavranich, and John Foley returned an interception 36 yards for a touchdown. Lewis Evans scored on the ground from 3 yards out, and Sean Ellery found paydirt on a 1-yard touchdown run.

For the first time, Haddonfield came into Thanksgiving having already won a sectional title. Last week, the top-seeded Bulldawgs defeated No. 2 Camden, 23-12, to capture the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 title.

Haddonfield advanced to the South Jersey final with a 28-6 win over No. 4 Pleasantville. In the first round, the Bulldawgs defeated No. 8 Sterling, 41-7.

Haddonfield will meet Central Jersey Group 3 champion Hillside in the inaugural South/Central Group 2 champion Hillside in the inaugural South/Central Group 2 bowl game at MetLife Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 1, 4 p.m.
