Police Investigate Car, Home Burglaries In Haddonfield

Haddonfield police provided updates on both investigations Tuesday afternoon.

HADDONFIELD, NJ - Haddonfield police updated residents as to recent car burglaries and home burglaries that continue to plague the borough on Tuesday.

“There have been a few more car burglaries over the past few nights,” the police department said in a Facebook post. “All the vehicles that were entered were left unlocked.”

In the past three weeks, car burglaries have been reported on both the northeast and southeast portions of the borough, police said. Detectives retrieved multiple video feeds from residents and were able to decipher that at least one suspect is a white man dressed in winter outerwear.

They were also able to retrieve photo evidence of footprints in the snow, which tells detectives the size of the footwear of the suspect. These photos will be submitted to New Jersey State Police, who will then be able to use their technology to determine what type of footwear the suspect is wearing, police said.

Police remind residents to lock their doors and to not leave valuable items inside. Anyone who has recently been the victim of a car burglary is asked to call the Haddonfield Police Department at 856-429-3000.

Police have been investigating home burglaries for the last three weeks. On Monday, they said they were able to retrieve a tiny blood drop from a shard of glass from a residential burglary on Allen Avenue.

The blood sample was properly retrieved and submitted to the NJSP Laboratory for DNA analysis and possible identification. This is an in depth process that is repeated for accurate results and takes a great deal of time, according to police.

When the sample is sufficient and suspect's DNA is already in the system (mandatory DNA submission for most criminal incarcerations), a warrant for arrest is issued and police can begin searching for the suspect.

In the meantime, Haddonfield police will continue to search for suspects using other means.

“As always timely reporting of any incident is crucial to the investigation and apprehension of any suspect(s),” police said.
