The Great Escape: Blues and Wine Festival

Need somewhere to escape to this weekend? Check out the hottest local spots.

The Garden State Wine Growers Association (GSWGA) is hosting a Blues and Wine Festival this weekend at Natirar Park, in Somerset County. The event will provide samplings from fine local, New Jersey wineries, to delicious foods made by area chefs.

The festival runs both Saturday, May 28, and Sunday, May 29,  from noon to 5 p.m. Gates open at 11:30 a.m., and samplings begin at noon. On Saturday, the festival will feature music from The Shadetree Mechanics Band. On Sunday, Mike Dugan and the Blues Mission band take the stage.

Enjoy savory dishes and a variety of wines. This event makes the perfect date-day, for you and your partner or fellow wine connoisseur. Sampling tickets are $25 per person, and available to patrons 21 and older.

Purchase your tickets before the festival, under the admissions tent, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. either day. Sampling ticket-holders will receive a free wine-tasting glass and wristband. Or, buy a two-day pass for just $40. Please be advised: Ticket sales under the admission tent will be accepting cash only.

If you can't sneak away for both festival days this weekend, take advantage of the event's Designated Driver's Pass. All designated drivers receive free admission, as do patrons under the age of 21.
