Board of Education Trustee Expected to Step Down Wednesday
Potential replacement candidates have until Sept. 30 to file notice of interest

Editor's note: Please note the board of education meeting has been changed from Thursday to Wednesday, Sept. 21.
The community is expected to learn learn Wednesday night which trustee plans to step down from the board.
The Board of Education office confirmed Friday that a member of the board will announce his or her resignation at the meeting next which is now set for Wednesday, Sept. 21.

Patch was told by Business Administrator Dina Messery’s office that the information in regards to which member is resigning will not be made public until the Sept. 22 meeting. Board of Education President Josephine Ciocia did not return phone calls over the weekend.
A notice of vacancy to the Board of Education was posted on the district’s website on Sept. 14. Those interested in filing for board membership have until Sept. 30 to submit a letter of interest, the notice states. The term would expire on April 14, 2012.

Potential candidates must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, a registered voter and must be a resident of the borough for at least one year.
