Board of Education Trustees Complete State Required Criminal Background Checks

New law passed in 2010 holds board members to the same background checks as district teachers.

All the members of the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education have completed the state required background check prior to the Dec. 31 deadline, district officials confirmed.

As reported at previous board of education meetings, a new state law was passed last year requiring board members to have background checks, holding them to the same standards as teachers working in the district.

Dina Messery, business administrator for the Heights board of education, said Monday that all the nine of the board trustees had their fingerprints done and all checks compliant and the district is compliant with the law.
