Borough Considers Shared Service Agreement with Lodi
Heights would pick up garbage for a section of Lodi apartments in lieu of payment for Lodi's sewer system which some Heights homes use

The borough of Hasbrouck Heights may enter into a shared service agreement with Lodi.
The agreement would bring a cost savings to Hasbrouck Heights as Lodi would no longer charge the borough for use of its sanitary sewer system which about 51 homes in one portion of Heights uses, Bill Spindler, superintendent of the DPW explained.
In return, Hasbrouck Heights DPW will pick up garbage and recycling to the Lodi portion of two apartment complexes – Boulevard apartments and Grandview apartments - sections of which are located in both boroughs, Spindler said. One block in the complex may be in Lodi while another block is located in Hasbrouck Heights, he explained.

“It’s a good program for everyone,” Spindler commented, adding that the agreement would not results in much more work for the DPW as their trucks already come into the area of these apartment complexes three times a week to collect from the Heights area of the complex.
“It’s not additional work for us to go around the block,” he said.

It’s not a done deal yet as borough officials are still in the process of discussing the possible agreement. Earlier this month, Mayor Rose Heck, Borough Administrator Mike Kronyak, and Spindler met to discuss the possible agreement with Lodi Mayor Bruce Masopust and borough manager Tony Luna.
During her mayor’s report Tuesday night, Heck stated that the borough continues to seek shared services agreements which she said used to be known as inter governmental contract agreements. For the past 70 years the borough has been providing fire and ambulance services to Teterboro. In addition the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department 9-11 services are also provided to Teterboro and Wood-Ridge.
The borough also takes part in working together with other nearby neighborhoods for geese management and environmental clean up programs near the railroad tracks, the mayor said.
