Borough Receives $17K Grant for Recycling Efforts
State Senator Bob Gordon and Assemblywoman Connie Wagner presented borough officials with check Tuesday night.

State Senator Bob Gordon and Assemblywoman Connie Wagner presented borough officials with a check Tuesday night in the amount of $17,271.90 for the borough’s continuous recycling efforts.
Upon making the presentation to Department of Public Works Superintendent Bill Spindler and Councilman David Gonzalez, commissioner of sanitation, Gordon commended the borough for its successful recycling program. He stated that these are difficult time for taxpayers and one of the few places where taxpayers can have some control over municipal expenditures is in the area of recycling.

Gordon said “this is a tribute to the DPW, the citizens of Hasbrouck Heights and their leaderships which put together a tremendous program.”
Gonzalez told the audience that he was very pleased to have received correspondence from Governor Christie about the amount the borough would receive and thanked the residents for making the recycling program a success.

Wagner told audience members, “the more you do, the bigger this numbers gets. Keep up the good work and bring the money home.”
Mayor Rose Heck stated that she was proud of the residents in this community for the great job they are doing and she hopes to see recycling efforts continue to increase annually as the grant award is wonderful to receive.
Officials stated that the funding will be used towards DPW equipment.
