Borough Scores 88 Percent on State Best Practice Checklist

State checklist takes an assessment of municipal operations

The borough once again scored in the top percentage on the state’s municipal best practices checklist for 2011.

During the most recent work session meeting last week, Mike Kronyak, borough administrator, explained that the borough received a score of 88 percent this year therefore the borough will not have any state aid held back as a result.

Municipalities that score above 80 percent do not face any penalties. Those that score less than 80 percent have about 1 percent of their state aid held back. Municipalities that score less than 60 percent or below have anywhere between 2 to 5 percent of its aid held back.

For the past two years the state has required municipalities to fill out this Best Practices checklist which takes an assessment of municipal operations. Kronyak explained the number of questions had been reduced from last years – from 88 questions down to 50.
