District 38 Election Results: Driscoll, Alonso and Goldberg Declared Winners on Republican Ticket

Democrat incumbent State Senator Bob Gordon ran unopposed along with running mates Assemblywoman Connie Wagner and Timothy Eustace

As results continue to come in from the Tuesday Primary Election, John Driscoll, current Bergen County Freeholder Chairman has been declared winner of the District 38 State Senate race while running mates Fernando Alonso and Richard Goldberg have also been declared winners in the race for the assembly seats on the Republican ticket.

Driscoll, of Paramus, was challenged by Kenneth DelVecchio of Fair Lawn. Driscoll will now face incumbent Democrat State Senator Robert Gordon, of Fair Lawn, in November. Gordon and his running mates Assemblywoman Connie Wagner and Timothy Eustace, mayor of Maywood ran unopposed in this Primary election.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to be the State Senate Candidate in the 38th District,” Driscoll said Tuesday night. “I want to thank all of our supporters for such a resounding victory. Much works needs to be done to get New Jersey on the right track. It is a challenge that I look forward to.”

Alonso, of Oradell, a professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University said, “I am very humbled to be the Assembly representative for the 38th district for the Republican party. I believe New Jersey can once again be a great place to live and I want to be part of the movement that will make it happen.”

Goldberg, who is mayor of Hawthorne, stated, “It is a pleasure to represent the 38th district, and, moreover, Passaic county in November’s upcoming election. Tonight’s primary has given my running mates and myself the opportunity to lead New Jersey back onto the right path, and that is a task we will face head on.”

Alonso and Goldberg ran against the team of Joseph Gant and Scott Verrone, both of Hawthorne, and Wojciech Siemaskiewicz of Bergenfield for the Republican assembly seat position.
