Food Pantry Benefits From the Work of Numerous Organizations
Also police department cracks down on drunk driving, October library stats reported and more

Councilwoman Pamela Link reported that the Hasbrouck Heights food pantry has received an overwhelming amount of donations from various organizations and individuals which helped provide Thanksgiving meals for the more than 40 families who come regularly to the shelter.
Link said all families were offered a turkey and trimmings and other items to chose from the fully stocked shelves.
Toys and gifts are currently being received and more information can be obtained by contacting the Borough Clerk’s office.

Recycling department- The satellite recycling container will be at the parking lot this Saturday, Dec. 3 from 7 a.m. to noon.

Police department – will take part in the statewide crackdown on drunk driving during the holiday season with the slogan of “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.” The campaign begins Dec. 5 and will run until Jan. 2.
Public library – During October, the circulated 9,229 items, which is 2 percent up from the same month last year, said Councilwoman Sonya Buckman, liaison to the library. In October, 10,053 people walked through the library doors and 47 new cards were issued – 37 to adults and 10 to children. To date there are 5,369 library cardholders in Heights.
Health department – The Board of Health reminds dog owners that 2011 licenses will expire on Jan. 31, 2012. Annual renewal notices will be mailed out on Dec. 31, reported Councilman Russell Lipari, who serves as commissioner to the health department. The health department should be notified if one no longer has his her dog so the department can update its files.
