Heck, DiPisa and Link to be Sworn in to New Terms Sunday

Borough will begin new business for 2012 during annual reorganization meeting

At the very start of the new year, the Hasbrouck Heights community will assemble at Sunday, Jan. 1 at 11:45 a.m. to witness the swearing in of Mayor Rose Heck, Councilman Justin DiPisa and Councilwoman Pamela Link, while also taking the first steps in getting new business underway for 2012.

Heck will be sworn into her second consecutive term but this will be the fourth time she will be sworn in as mayor. She first served as mayor from the late 1980s into the 1990s and then served in the state assembly for 13 years. She was re-elected as mayor in 2007 and 2011. This will be DiPisa’s sixth term on the council having served on the council since 1994. For Link this will be her second term.

New chiefs of the borough's volunteer fire department will also be sworn in during the ceremony. Richard Giarrantana will be sworn in as the head fire chief for 2012, Pat Hayes, will be sworn in as first assistant fire chief and Angelo Roccamo as second assistant fire chief.

Following the swearing ceremonies, it is expected the council will elect a new council president and council people will be selected as commissioners to the borough departments.

Mayor Heck will also announce appointments to committees and will deliver her annual state of the borough address where she is expected to reflect on this past year while looking ahead towards what is to come in 2012.
