HS Seniors Await Answer Regarding Outdoor Lunch Request
Board of Education members agreed to discuss the request and make a decision next week

Next week members of the high school senior class may find out if they will be allowed the chance to dine out for lunch during the school day for a three-day trial period.
Board of education members and administrations agreed to discuss whether or not this could be a possibility and an answer is expected at the Dec. 15 meeting. At the most recent meeting a group of students from the senior class executive board petitioned the Board of Education a request that high school seniors have the ability to dine out during their lunch break.
Senior student Meron Aberha spoke on behalf of the group asking the board for a three-day trial the week before the holiday break in December. The group put together guidelines in which the students would follo and Aberha stated that the students are aware that there is a zero tolerance towards smoking, drinking or disorderly conduct. The students presented their guidelines to each board member.

The seniors said they wanted to do this for their fellow classmates as they themselves would not be able to leave for lunch as their sixth period is devoted to their executive board duties, a 5-credit course they take which involves planning events for the senior class.
Aberha stated that this idea came from the executive board and they feel it would be something nice to give the senior class members who have been the first to go through many of the changes in the school and it would be a nice experience for them to look back on.

Board President Josephine Ciocia told the students the board would discuss the idea and make a final decision by the Dec. 15 meeting in time for the 3-day trial period to take place if it is decided they will be allowed this opportunity.
