Hundreds of neighbors then turned out to support the kids' next stand, a show of generosity that caught U.S. Sen. Cory Booker's attention and praise. Their mother and the children even wrote a letter forgiving the thief.

Writer-director Alan Del Tufo plans to shoot across the region starting Sept. 22, featuring recognizable local businesses and a cast with TV and film credits. The project explores the ethics of AI in a darkly comic way.
