Property Owners to Receive New Assessments This Week

Property owners will have opportunity to meet with Appraisal Systems representatives in the near future to discuss questions or concerns.

Property owners will soon have an opportunity to meet with assessors of Appraisal Systems, Inc. to discuss the new value of their home or business, information they should be receiving this week.

Mike Kronyak, borough administrator, said Tuesday property owners should be receiving the letters from Appraisal Systems, Inc., the company that conducted the reassessment process, this week. The letter will contain the new assessed property value along with other pertinent information.

Kronyak said he is in the process of setting up a schedule for representatives of Appraisal Systems to set up meetings in Borough Hall. Dates are not known at this time but a schedule should be worked out this week.

He said meetings may be held either during day or evening, or both, depending upon availability at the municipal building. Property owners will have the opportunity to speak with representatives in regards to any questions or concerns they may have regarding their new assessed value. The new property assessments will be used for the 2012 tax bills.

The . Borough officials made the decision earlier this year to have properties reassessed in order to ensure that all properties are assessed fairly as there had been a record number of tax appeals and foreclosures in the borough.
