Shared Service Agreement With Lodi Made Official
Borough's DPW will collect garbage and recycling for a section of apartments in Lodi in lieu of payment for use of sanitary sewerage system.

The borough council made a shared services agreement with the neighboring borough of Lodi official this week.
As a result of the agreement the Hasbrouck Heights Department of Public Works will begin to collect garbage and recycling for the Lodi section of two apartment complexes – Boulevard and Grandview apartments – on the border of Hasbrouck Heights/Lodi - in lieu of payment for sanitary sewerage system which about 61 homes in Heights use.
Mike Kronyak, Heights borough administrator, explained that officials of both towns came to an agreement that the estimated cost of tonnage for garbage collection and recycling was a close match to the fee of $10,200 which the borough had been paying Lodi for use of its sewerage system.

Since sections of both apartment complexes are located in both Hasbrouck Heights and Lodi, picking up the garbage and recycyling for the Lodi portion does not amount to much more work for the DPW, Bill Spindler, superintendent, told Patch recently. The garbage trucks already go into that area three times a week for pick-up.
The Lodi apartments will have to abide by the garbage and recycling regulations set by Spindler for Hasbrouck Heights, Kronyak said.

Kronyak explained that Lodi will now have to pass a corresonding resolution before the agreement goes into affect. He expects the program to begin by the fourth quarter of this year.
