Veterans Memorial and Polifly Parks Next on List for Upgrades

Borough will seek additional Open Space Trust Fund grants from county

Borough officials are taking steps to secure additional funding from the county Open Space Trust Fund for the next park improvement projects on the list.

The next phase of funding the borough is applying for would be put towards improvements to . The following year the borough will apply for funding which would be used for .

Mike Kronyak, borough administrator  explained at a recent work session meeting that the borough had recently applied for funding that would help pay for improvements to all three borough parks at one time. However county funding was reduced and the borough chose to put the $18,000 it did receive towards improvements to , pushing other park improvements off temporarily.

as the improvements are being done in preparation of the upcoming 9-11 memorial service.  The borough added on an additional $20,000 in funding towards the project. New sidewalks surrounding the park were put in as well as an irrigation system and electricity which will be used to light the new which will be unveiled during the memorial service.

Officials are expected to approve a resolution during next week’s meeting endorsing the Open Space Trust Fund application prior to the Sept. 1 deadline.
