12 Roads Repaved In Hillsborough Totaling $1.3M For 2022
Mayor Shawn Lipani gave an infrastructure update for 2022 which included the addition pickleball, new water fountains and more.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Mayor Shawn Lipani gave an infrastructure update regarding a number of projects that were completed in the township for 2022 including roadway, sidewalk, and park improvements and storm drain repairs.
Roadway Improvements
Lipani announced at the Oct. 25 Township Committee meeting the completion of $1.3 millionin roadway improvements that were part of the 2022 Capital Budget including:

- Amsterdam Drive, between Millstone River Road and Vliet Drive,
- Wescott Road
- DeCamp Drive
- Sutphin Lane
- Saxon Street
- Thatcher Terrace
- Sheppard Court
- Bigley Road
- Danley Lane
- Ernest Road
- Ilene Court
- Striker Lane between Homestead Road and Ilene Court
All roads were completed, including handicap ramp replacements at all intersections.
Sidewalk Improvements

Uneven sidewalks were replaced for a total cost of $75,000 on the following roadways:
- Van Bolton Road
- Oak Terrace
- Buckland Drive
- Nimrod Way
- Stockton Road
- More Road
- Hughey Lane
- Gafney Court
- Shugal Court
Additional sidewalk repairs will take place at the end of the year if weather permits, said Lipani.
Park Improvements
Parks and Recreation also saw some improvements with the renovation of the tennis courts at Woodfield Park so they can also accommodate pickleball. New water fountains were installed at Ann Van Middlesworth Park, allowing for both drinking and refilling water bottles. A doggie water fountain was also installed. Additionally, the adult baseball field at Lowe’s field was reactivated, said Lipani.
Storm Drain Repairs
For 2022, 127 storm drains were repaired and around 10,000 feet of hot asphalt road patching was completed to date, according to The Department of Public Works.
All projects were completed meeting current ADA requirements, such as handicap ramps to provide better access and mobility for our handicapped residents. The Storm Water catch basins retrofits meet the NJDEP requirements and also provide a sustainable component, which the Township is Sustainable Jersey Silver Certified, said Lipani.
