17 Hillsborough Roads To Be Improved For 2024

The roads on the list are part of a $9 million bond ordinance passed by the Township Committee in April.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A total of 17 roadways in the township will see a facelift as part of Hillsborough's Township-wide road resurfacing and overlay program.

The roads on the list are part of a $9 million bond ordinance approved by the Township Committee at the April 30 meeting.

In May Mayor Robert Britting announced which roads would be repaired due to the bond.

In addition, Amsterdam Drive (Phase 3) will soon be going out to bid. The engineering department is waiting for NJDOT Local Aid approval of the revised plans prepared by Pennoni Associates. This is due to Somerset County paving the north end between Amwell Road and Schilke Lane. The Township cost after the grant is around $275,000.

The following roads will be going to bid this summer for paving by the fall:

  • Township Line Road (between Montgomery border & Belle Glades Lane)
  • White Meadow Road
  • Spring Valley Road(between White Meadow Road & Winding Way)
  • Pleasant View Road (between Amwell Road & AVM Park)
  • Camden Road

Pennoni is preparing plans to repave Auten Road between the railroad and Triangle Road, which will be submitted to NJDOT Local Aid for approval. This work should be bid this summer for fall paving. The Township cost after the grant is around $315,000.

The Engineering Department is also looking into utilizing high-performance chip seal or slurry seal on roads that meet the engineering requirements.

The estimated cost of all the above road improvements is $4 to $4.5 million for 2024.

"Our promise and commitment to address our infrastructure is steadfast and clearly apparent by this comprehensive road program," said Committeeman Shawn Lipani.

The $9 million road paving project marks the beginning of Hillsborough’s commitment to improving infrastructure. Additional road projects are planned for next year and beyond.
