2 Bomb Threats At Hillsborough High School Found To Be Not Credible

The threats made through SnapChat caused authorities to search and secure the building.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Two bomb threats made to Hillsborough High School through SnapChat were found to not be credible, said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lisa M. Antunes.

After receiving the threats on the application, the Hillsborough Police Department and other local authorities took swift action to search and secure the building allowing schools to open without disruption to their typical day, said Antunes.

"Following a thorough investigation conducted by the Hillsborough Police Department, it was determined that the threats were not credible. At no time were students or staff in any danger," said Antunes.

In the letter sent out to the community, Antunes asked parents to reinforce with their children the seriousness of threatening, inappropriate, or inflammatory posts on social media and the significant consequences that will result from such actions.

"On behalf of the Board of Education and administration, I would like to thank the Hillsborough Township Police Department and other local authorities for their assistance in securing the high school and their thorough investigation bringing closure to the incident," said Antunes. "We are so grateful for their willingness to go above and beyond when it comes to the safety of our students and staff."
