30-Day Amnesty Program Offered To Hillsborough Residents

The program will excuse homeowners from getting penalized for having open permits, having interior non-structural work done without permits.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — "The Building Department is pleased to announce a 30-day amnesty program, which will run until April 25, 2025,” announced Mayor John Ciccarelli at the March 25 Township Committee

This program will excuse homeowners from getting penalized for having open permits, having interior non-structural work done without permits, failing to obtain a Certificate of Occupancy, and/or having an expired Temporary Certificate of Occupancy on their home.

"As licensed Code Administrators, it is imperative that we do our best to protect the safety of our residents. It is more important to verify Code compliance with these projects than to penalize the homeowners,” stated Construction Official John Fiedler.
