Bank Robbing Brothers Were Co-Conspirators In Somerset County: Prosecutor

Ryan Gaboff, 37, of Millstone along with his parents and brothers were all charged in connection with a Franklin bank robbery: Prosecutor.

FRANKLIN, NJ — A brother was arrested on Tuesday becoming the latest from a Somerset County family to be charged in connection with a bank robbery that happened in Franklin Township in August 2022, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald announced.

A police investigation found Ryan Gaboff, 37 of Ely Harmony Road, Millstone, co-conspired with his brother Michael Gaboff, 36, of Ely Harmony Road, in Millstone, to rob the Chase bank located on Route 27 in Franklin Park on Aug. 22, 2022, said McDonald.

On Tuesday, April 4, Ryan Gaboff voluntarily surrendered at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. Ryan Gaboff was arrested and charged with second-degree robbery, and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery.

Michael Gaboff was previously arrested on Dec. 2, 2022, and charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery. The Gaboff's three other family members were also each arrested and charged with third-degree hindering:

  • Alan Gaboff, 66, Ely Harmony Road, Millstone
  • Sharon Gaboff, 60, Ely Harmony Road, Millstone
  • Jesse Gaboff, 23, Ely Harmony Road, Millstone

On Aug. 22 at about 2:08 p.m., Franklin Township Police got a call that a robbery had occurred at the Chase bank located on Route 27 in Franklin Park.

A man reportedly went inside the bank demanding money from multiple bank tellers, said McDonald.

The bank tellers turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the man based on his demands and he fled the bank on a motorcycle, said McDonald.

The male suspect was described as about 5-foot-6-inches tall wearing black shoes, black pants, a black shirt, a black mask, and a black motorcycle helmet and goggles.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit along with detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department investigated along with help from agents from the FBI Newark.

Ryan Gaboff is being held in the Somerset County Jail pending a court hearing.
