Masked Man Wanted In Somerset County Bank Robbery Arrested: Prosecutor
Michael Gaboff, 36, of Millstone, was charged in connection with a bank robbery in Franklin Township in August.
FRANKLIN, NJ — A man wanted for robbing a bank in Franklin Township in August was arrested following a three-month investigation, announced Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor, and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella M. Maeweather.
Michael Gaboff, 36, of Ely Harmony Road, in Millstone, was charged with second-degree robbery and second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with a bank robbery that occurred on Aug. 22.
On Aug. 22 at about 2:08 p.m., Franklin Township Police got a call that a robbery had occurred at the Chase bank located on Route 27 in Franklin Park.

A man reportedly went inside the bank demanding money from multiple bank tellers, said McDonald.
The bank tellers turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the man based on his demands and he fled the bank on a motorcycle, said McDonald.

The male suspect was described as about 5-foot-6-inches tall wearing black shoes, black pants, a black shirt, a black mask, and a black motorcycle helmet and goggles.
As a result of the three-month investigation, Gaboff was identified as the man that robbed the bank.
On Friday, Dec. 2, a search was done Gaboff’s home in Millstone (Monmouth County) with the help of the Newark FBI SWAT Team, agents from the FBI Newark – Franklin Township Resident Agency Office, members of the Franklin Township Police Department, members of the Monroe Township (Middlesex County) Police Department, members of the New Jersey State Police, and detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office.
Gaboff was arrested in Ocean by investigators assigned to the investigation. Gaboff was charged and taken to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s office for processing and remains at the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
As a result of this investigation the below-listed family members of Michael Gaboff were each arrested and charged with third-degree hindering:
- Alan Gaboff, 66, Ely Harmony Road, Millstone
- Sharon Gaboff, 60, Ely Harmony Road, Millstone
- Jesse Gaboff, 23, Ely Harmony Road, Millstone
Sharon Gaboff, Alan Gaboff and Jesse Gaboff were all processed and released pending a court appearance.
