Bistro Offerings Go Beyond Bagels

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Hillsborough Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Overview: Bagel Bistro, on Amwell Road in Hillsborough, serves mainly breakfast and lunch items, include sandwiches, salads, panini and—of course—bagels, bagels and more bagels. The bistro occupies the former Bagel B.O.P. location.

Décor: The shop offers several tables for eat-in meals and a counter for watching television.  Take-out options are available too and is among the restaurant's most popular option.

The Drinks: The bistro has a variety of bottle waters, juices and other drinks and patrons can also order coffee and tea by the cup.

Entrees: Bagel Bistro offers a host of traditional egg sandwiches, pancakes, french toast, egg platters, omelets, and bagels and specialty cream cheese (Think cinnamon raisin, veggie, scallion) as toppers.  Sandwiches range from Philly steak and egg to traditional heros.  In addition, the bistro features specialty sandwiches like its chicken cali sandwich, wraps, paninis, like its California Panini and Tuscan Panini and salads that include a pear salad and grilled asian chicken salad.

Desserts: The bistro offers an assortment of muffins, danishes, chocolate chip cookies and crumb buns.  Its bagel theme extends to dessert as well, with blueberry crumb and cinnamon raisin crumb bagels and a French toast bagel.

Service: Wait time can vary depending on the crowd—the spot is within walking distance of Hillsborough High School and is a popular after school destination for students. Items are made fresh, but the wait is relatively short.
