Bomb Threat At ShopRite In Somerset County Prompts Investigation

The latest bomb threat was reported at a ShopRite in Somerset County on Wednesday.

FRANKLIN, NJ — A bomb threat was reported at Shoprite in Franklin Township on Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the Franklin Township Police Department got a call from Shoprite at 435 Elizabeth Ave. in Somerset reporting the bomb threat, said Franklin Township Police Det. Sgt. Vincent Wilson.

Franklin Township Police secured the area, and evaluated the premises. Middlesex County Sheriffs’ K-9 Officer also came out.

No suspicious packages or items were located during the search.

Anyone having information regarding the bomb threat at Shoprite is asked to contact the
Franklin Township Police Department at 732-873-5533.

Two bomb threats were reported on July 12 in Somerset County. One threat was reported at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset located in Somerville and another at ShopRite in Branchburg. Read More: 2 Bomb Threats Reported In Somerset County

A bomb threat was also reported at the Walmart in Watchung and in East Brunswick on July 11.

Following the threats, the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (NJOHSP) said they are investigating. Read More: Homeland Security Investigating Bomb Threats Across Somerset County

"We are working with local, county, state and federal partners to determine their origin. At this time, they appear to be noncredible; however, all threats are being reviewed, assessed and shared with appropriate law enforcement entities throughout the State," said NJOHSP Spokeswoman Maria Prato.
