The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature as summer arrives in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

CHILDREN & TEEN PROGRAMS

 

Recipe for a Swamp

            Monday, June 23 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

            Children ages infant to 5 with a parent will tour the swamp to discover the

different animals and plants that thrive in the environment before making a swamp craft to take home.

            Fee is $10 per pair & $5 per additional child..

A Hummingbird’s Life

            Wednesday, June 25 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

            Children age infant to 5 with a parent will examine the life of the

                        hummingbird as spring brings new life to the Great Swamp.

            Fee is $10 per pair and $5 per additional child.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS

 

Garden Discovery Tour – Vassar College Arboretum – NEW!

            Tuesday, June 24 from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

            The Arboretum in Poughkeepsie, New York showcases 230 tree species.

                        The tour will includes annuals and perennials in the Shakespeare

                        Garden and the Sculpture Garden and a walk along the boardwalk

                        to the Wetland Garden and lake.

            Fee is $40 per adult and $30 per senior.

Blue “BOBO (Buy One – Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch

Park in Bridgewater.  The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
