Environmental Education Center Programs June 9 to 15

Entertaining & Educational Activities for All Ages

June 9, 2014 through June 15, 2014

 

The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonders of nature as summer approaches in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS

           

Garden Discovery Tour – Hersey Gardens – NEW!

Tuesday, June 10 from 7:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.

Adults will join Naturalists on a visit to Milton Hersey’s garden of roses.

A 23-acre facility that features a breathtaking assortment of flowers and

            shrubs, a stately collection of rare signature trees and a butterfly house

            with hundreds  of inhabitants. A visit to the Chocolate Lab will follow the

            garden tour.

Fee is $65 per adult and $55 per senior

Father’s Day Fun

            Sunday, June 15 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.

            Family and friends of all ages will learn about nature’s Dads and how they

            compare to our own fathers.

            Fee is $6 per person.

Blue “BOBO (Buy One – Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch

Park in Bridgewater.  The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
