Firefighters Battle Chimney Fire At Hillsborough Home
The volunteer firefighters were on their way back from another fire in Bound Brook when they got the call and raced over to help.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Volunteer Hillsborough firefighters had a busy Sunday night offering help for a fire in Bound Brook and then a chimney fire in the township.
Around 9 p.m. on March 19, Hillsborough Fire District companies were called for a chimney fire on Taylor Avenue.
The Flagtown Fire Ladder truck with a 6-man crew arrived within 4 minutes, as they were coming back from helping in Bound Brook with a fire in their borough, according to Flagtown Fire/Rescue - Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co. #1.

The crews arrived simultaneously and found a fire in the wall of the home. The ladder crew immediately stretched a hose line and opened up the ceiling and wall where the fire was burning, said the fire department.
Crews from Co. 2 and Manville Tower 42 searched the upper levels to confirm there was no fire extension.

The fire was extinguished quickly and smoke was ventilated from the home. There were no reported injuries.
"There is something to be said about being in the right place at the right time," said Flagtown Fire Department.
The Flagtown Fire and Rescue is always looking for volunteers. Interested candidates may stop by any Thursday night at the firehouse at 7 p.m. at 20 Equator Ave. There is a 16- to 18-year-old junior member program as well as regular membership for those interested in being firefighters. Some of the benefits include scholarship opportunities, incentives, and a retirement (LOSAP) program.
