Hillsborough Committeewoman Expecting Second Child, 1st To Serve While Pregnant
Jill Gomez is believed to be the first woman to serve on the Hillsborough Township Committee while pregnant, marking a historic moment.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough Committeewoman Jill Gomez made the happy announcement that she and her husband, James, are expecting their second child at the Tuesday Township Committee.
This announcement may be historically significant for the township, as it is believed Gomez is the first woman to serve on the Hillsborough Township Committee while pregnant.
"As we celebrate Women's History Month this March and honor the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere. I think it's just really important to make the message for women to the young girls in here. You do not have to choose between following your passions and your dream and your calling and a family and that we can we can do it all," said Gomez.

"Women have been doing that for a long time. We just simply haven't always been seen doing it. My voice on the committee will remain strong. Every decision I make is already with the next generation in mind," said Gomez.
Gomez is due with her second child this fall.

Committeewoman Samantha Hand acknowledged the milestone during the meeting.
"As we mark International Women's Day and Women's History Month, we are proud to celebrate Jill Gomez, whose dedication, leadership, and impact embody the very progress we honor this month," Hand said. She added, "As the only woman known to have served this committee while expecting, we are proud to support her in this joyful milestone."
Mayor Catherine Payne also offered her support.
"On behalf of the entire Township Committee, we wish Committeewoman Gomez a happy, healthy pregnancy and look forward to meeting Hillsborough’s newest resident," Payne said.
