Students To Walk Out Of School To Protest ICE Raids In Somerset County

"One thing is clear: We do not want ICE in our town," said the student group.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough High School students are planning to walkout of class on Friday to protest U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities.

"As many may know, ICE’s presence in our communities has grown significantly over the past year. This recent wave of enforcement has been shown to be increasingly unlawful and has even led to the deaths of two American citizens, along with the inhumane detention of many others," according to boroforjustice2026.

The group also cited an increase in ICE activities in Somerset County over the past month.

"One thing is clear: We do not want ICE in our town," said the student group.

The students are planning to walk out as an act of protest on the first day of the second semester - Friday, Jan. 30.

"A small gesture like this from the majority of the student body can turn out to be an incredible act from all of us. This is our chance to unite as a school and do something massive," said the group.
