HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough High School teacher Anjana Iyer has been named a recipient of the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). This award is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government specifically for K-12 science and mathematics teachers.

"It is an honor to be selected for the Presidential Award from such an extraordinary group of science educators. It's a testament to my commitment to inclusive education. This recognition affirms that I'm on the right path, empowering me to advocate for all students to thrive together in my classroom and access science education. I'm deeply grateful to my co-teacher, supervisor, colleagues, and family for their unwavering support on this journey," said Iyer.

President Biden announced the awardees earlier on Tuesday, recognizing 336 teachers and mentors from across the nation. The PAEMST program, established in 1983, acknowledges the critical role educators play in fostering the next generation of STEM leaders.
