Hillsborough Hires Consultant To Find Next School Superintendent

The "intensive search" for Hillsborough School district's next superintendent begins immediately following Dr. Lisa Antunes' resignation.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A consultant was hired by the Hillsborough Board of Education on Monday night to help find the next district superintendent after Dr. Lisa Antunes resigned.

After the Board met in executive session at the May 23 meeting, President Paul Marini read a resolution to hire the professional services of Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, based in Illinois, to conduct an "intensive search" for the Hillsborough School district's next superintendent.

The contract is not to exceed $30,000, read Marini.

The resolution was unanimously approved by the board, except for Benjamin Kidd who was absent.

She abruptly announced her leave of absence on Dec. 22, 2021. This was the same time the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and the Hillsborough Police began investigating the school district's finances. Antunes said she is resigning as superintendent "for personal reasons and to pursue other professional opportunities," said Board President Paul Marini at the April 25 meeting.

Dr. Kim Feltre, who previously served as Assistant Schools Superintendent, will continue to serve as Acting Superintendent until at least graduation.
