Somerset County Prosecutor Investigates Hillsborough School Finances: Report

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office and the Hillsborough Police are now involved in the school district's finances after Business Administrator Aiman Mahmoud abruptly resigned on Monday, according to Tapinto.net.
Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson confirmed to tapinto.net that an ongoing, active investigation was underway and the school district was cooperating.
Additionally, Assistant schools superintendent Dr. Kim Feltre said on Wednesday that School Superintendent Dr. Lisa Antunes is taking a short leave of absence, effective immediately. In her place, Feltre will be acting superintendent until Antunes returns, according to Tapinto.net.

All of this follows Mahmoud's resignation on Monday. The Hillsborough Board of Education voted and accepted Mahmoud's resignation effective immediately at the Dec. 20 special meeting. However, it was not unanimous. Read More: Hillsborough School Business Administrator Abruptly Resigns
Both Gregory Gillette and John Oliver voted against accepting the resignation while Christopher Pulsifer abstained from the vote.

The board then went into executive session to discuss Central office administrative staff. After coming out of the meeting the board voted to place an employee on administrative leave.
The meeting was immediately adjourned with no comment on the matter to the public.
Mahmoud had served as School Business Administrator/Board Secretary at the Central Office in Hillsborough since Jan. 21, 2008.
It is unclear why he resigned.
