Hillsborough High School Teacher Honored Nationally For Inspiring Students

Robert Fenster has been a grade 9-12 teacher for 29 years and currently teaches at Hillsborough High School.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough High School Social Studies teacher Robert Fenster was named one of three recipients of the Education Ambassador Awards from the Pegasus Springs Education Collective (PSEC).

Fenster was selected "because he is an educator who inspires students and has the creativity and perseverance to make a transformational difference in the future of education."

Fenster will be receiving an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the PSEC Education Summit at the Coronado Springs Resort at Walt Disney World, June 26 to 29, where he will be collaborating with other education leaders to learn, share, and explore current issues in education.

Fenster will also be celebrated at a reception to celebrate the teaching profession at Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park.

"I'm excited to be selected as one of three educational ambassadors as it is both an affirmation of what I've been doing in the classroom and an opportunity to both share my ideas and learn from others," said Fenster.

He will also receive a $500 grant award for his classroom. Fenster plans to use his $500 award to buy podcast equipment for his students to help focus on local, state, and national issues.

Fenster has a Master’s degree from Rutgers University in Secondary Social Studies. He’s been a grade 9-12 teacher for 29 years and currently teaches at Hillsborough High School.

He is also to be inducted into the National Teacher’s Hall of Fame (NTHF) in 2022.

"His creative teaching style includes student choice, mock trials, simulations, visual essays, and inquiry-based research. His goal is to teach students to become critical thinkers who will make important decisions affecting society in the future," according to PSEC.
