The Hillsborough Board of Education also placed a Central Office administrative staff member on leave.

(Hillsborough Township Schools Meeting)

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Aiman Mahmoud has worked for the Hillsborough School District for the past 13 years until Monday night when he abruptly resigned.

The Hillsborough Board of Education held a special meeting on Dec. 20 where initially it was advertised that no action would be taken.

However, since the meeting was announced the Board has become aware of matters "and has determined that these matters are of such urgency and importance that a delay for providing adequate notice would be likely to result in substantial harm to the public interest," read Board President Jean Trujillo at the meeting.

The board voted and accepted Mahmoud's resignation effective immediately. However, it was not unanimous.

Both Gregory Gillette and John Oliver voted against accepting the resignation while Christopher Pulsifer abstained from the vote.

The board then went into executive session to discuss Central office administrative staff. After coming out of the meeting the board voted to place an employee on administrative leave.

The meeting was immediately adjourned with no comment on the matter to the public.

Mahmoud had served as School Business Administrator/Board Secretary at the Central Office in Hillsborough since Jan. 21, 2008.

It is unclear why he resigned.

The Hillsborough School District did not respond immediately to Patch's request for comment. Hillsborough Police referred Patch to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office (SCPO).

SCPO Spokesman Frank Roman said he would not confirm nor deny if any ongoing investigation is happening with Mahmoud.
