Hillsborough Committee: DelCore Wins, Unofficial Results Say

Check out all of the unofficial results for Hillsborough's township committee and school board races.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The unofficial results are in and it appears Republican incumbent Frank DelCore has won over Democrat newcomer Jeffrey Wright for township committee, according to Hillsborough's unofficial results. The final count on Mail in Ballots will be provided by the County Clerk Office on Nov. 12.

DelCore ran against Wright for the only open three-year seat on the township committee. DelCore had previously served as mayor for the township. Wright had also previously run for township committee in 2018 and lost.

HILLSBOROUGH TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE ELECTION RESULTS (1-SEAT):

  • FRANK DELCORE - 4,162
  • JEFFREY WRIGHT - 3,342

The Hillsborough/Millstone School District also had a heated race with five candidates vying for the three open three-year seats. Candidates Incumbent Jean Trujillo, John Oliver, and Incumbent Gregory Gillette edged out Paul Marini and Joyce Eldridge-Howard, according to unofficial results.

HILLSBOROUGH TOWNSHIP SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION RESULTS (3-SEATS):

  • JEAN TRUJILLO - 3,186
  • GREGORY GILLETTE - 2,884
  • JOHN OLIVER - 2,873
  • JOYCE ELDRIDGE-HOWARD - 2,773
  • PAUL MARINI- 2,470

With ongoing financial troubles, fighting over the teachers contract and the rejection of the school referendum in March, this year has been rough for the school board.

Most recently Hillsborough Township Schools Superintendent Dr. Jorden Schiff abruptly resigned and retired effective Oct. 1. (See Related: Hillsborough Superintendent Dr. Jorden Schiff Abruptly Retires)

On Dec. 10 Hillsborough residents will be asked to vote on a $35.4 million referendum for "much needed" improvements across the nine schools in the district. (See Related: Hillsborough To Vote On $35.4M School Referendum Dec. 10)
