Montgomery Local Named Somerset County VoTech Student Of The Month For March
Aleyzia Primus, a junior from Montgomery, was recognized for her compassionate nature and extensive involvement in school activities.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — Aleyzia Primus, a junior at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS) from Montgomery, has been named Student of the Month for March.
Primus is enrolled in the Cosmetology program at SCVTHS. She is the daughter of Lynee Layne and Allen Primus.
SCVTHS faculty and staff selected Primus based on her compassionate qualities. The school noted that she consistently demonstrates care and empathy for those around her. Her actions contribute to a more caring and inclusive school community, according to the school.

Primus was specifically recognized for her concern for others and her caring attitude. One teacher stated that she "represents the heart of our school community." She is also a past recipient of SCVTHS Stellar Student honors.
Primus participates in numerous extracurricular activities. These include the Environmental Club, TEEEM Club, and Black Student Union. She also serves as a Peer Mentor for current SCVTHS students and as a Student Ambassador, speaking to middle school students about career and technical education opportunities. Primus is a member of the Jaguars’ Varsity Basketball team.

Her volunteer work includes the school’s Santa Breakfast. She has also applied her cosmetology skills by doing hair and makeup for the theater department plays. Primus is one of the voices for the school’s morning announcements.
Outside of school, Primus works at DJ’s Salon in Branchburg. In her free time, she enjoys playing "Michael Jackson: The experience" on the Nintendo Wii and watching movies. While she is still exploring future career options, she has an interest in the music and entertainment industry.
Kristen McNerney, a Special Education and English Instructor at SCVTHS, said, "Whether she is in the classroom or on the court, Aleyzia thinks about the well-being of others, demonstrating a level of empathy that is great to see in a young woman of her age."
