6 Trapped Inside 2 Cars Rescued From Franklin Crash

The 2 drivers and 4 passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a local area trauma center for treatment.

FRANKLIN, NJ — Firefighters rescued six people who were trapped inside two cars following a crash in Franklin Township on Monday morning.

At 7:03 a.m. Franklin Police Officers were called to the intersection of Easton Avenue and Landing Lane where they found a two car crash with people in both vehicles trapped inside, Lt. Philip J. Rizzo reported.

An investigation found that a 2006 Toyota Sienna driven by Nohelia Mejia-Martinez, 33, from Monmouth Junction was going northbound on Easton Avenue when it collided with a 2002 Dodge Durango. The Durango was driving southbound and was driven by Marcelo Dos Reis, 43, of Edison, Rizzo reported.

Firefighters were able to rescue both drivers from their vehicles. The two drivers and four adult passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a local area trauma center for treatment, Rizzo said.

Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau are investigating the factors that contributed to the crash.

The roadway was closed for about two and a half hours during the extrication, investigation and subsequent clean up.
