New Affordable Housing Community Opens In Hillsborough Area

The Apartments at Montgomery Crossing is a $22M, 86-unit development for those earning incomes at or below 60% of the Area Median Income.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — The Apartments at Montgomery Crossing, a $22 million, 86-unit affordable housing development is now open.

The development at 9 Hartwick Dr. in Skillman offers housing for working families, seniors and professionals earning incomes at or below 60 percent of the Area Median Income.

A ribbon-cutting for the two-story and stacked flat apartments was held on June 30 with Montgomery Township Mayor Devra Keenan, Melanie R. Walter, Executive Director of the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, and Somerset County Commissioners joined developer PIRHL, LLC.

The development will offer community amenities including a community room, fitness and activity rooms, bike storage, on-site management and social services, playground and dog run.

A supportive service program will be implemented for the development with constant sensitivity to each family’s immediate needs.

"The Apartments at Montgomery Crossing provide much-needed safe, welcoming, and affordable homes that are seamlessly integrated in the surrounding community," said Melanie R. Walter, Executive Director, New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency. "We are honored to provide capital funding to promote housing access in this high opportunity area where residents can live, work, attend school, and raise a family."
