Rourke added that the team has a lot of experience in some areas, little experience in other areas, and no experience in some areas.

"I'm ready to really get the season going, create a program, and I couldn't be happier that I've been chosen to do it," said Rourke. "I can't wait to get to work with the Girls."

Two student-athletes joined Rourke at the podium, and both shared their excitement for the new team.

" I'm really excited. I've been playing since second grade, and we've been waiting for them to get a team started. So, I'm really excited," said one student.

The new program emphasizes competitive play, even without traditional football pads. The team is now counting down to its first season. Flags are anticipated to fly this spring for the inaugural games.
