Hand and Payne were victorious over Republican incumbent James "Jim" Ruh and Democrat Ronald Yoder in the November election.

"Hillsborough's future depends on recognizing the reality of a growing community facing the challenge of maintaining the quality of life we all want for our families. We cannot afford to play catch up. The way forward is to ensure we engage in thoughtful, inclusive, comprehensive, and informed dialogue with all residents and businesses in town, as well as our County and State representatives. The ongoing review of our Master Plan is part of this. Together we can develop clear, attainable goals and develop plans that will guide Hillsborough as we move into 2024 and beyond," said Hand.

Britting gave his State of the Town Address while thanking his supporters.

"I promised I would protect Hillsborough on every level. I got involved with Hillsborough Township to put it in the right direction for a better future. I am humbled, absolutely humbled, you have no idea, by this nomination by my colleagues and the support of my family and friends," said Britting.

He went on to pledge to be unapologetically honest, always put Hillsborough first, hold decision-makers accountable, including myself, will prioritize children and senior citizens, and stand in front of problems to protect the values of Hillsborough.

Some of his goals for 2024 included fiscal responsibility - to continue to balance the budget and keep the tax rate low; Open Space - to continue to push local governments to protect open space and preserve land in the township; and public safety.

"In the end, this is not a town of Republicans, Democrats or Independents. I look forward to working with everyone here on the dais," said Britting. "Hillsborough is a community that strives to maintain a small town feel that has large town goals and I am humbled and honored to have the chance to lead it. "

The next Township Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building at 379 South Branch Road.
