Superintendent Michael Volpe provided an update on the status of summer projects in the district.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Construction work around the district is moving along in preparation for the first day of school, which is just about two weeks away.

Hillsborough Superintendent Michael Volpe provided an update on the status of summer projects in the district during the Monday night Board of Education meeting:

  • Woodfern Elementary School - The new roof has been installed. Only a portion of stairs need to be completed.
  • Amsterdam Elementary School - Construction is on schedule for the tennis courts. They have been paved and are curing. The project is expected to be finished by Sept. 23. This is part of a partnership with the Township, which is splitting the cost of the project. "Not only are we going to have that ready for tennis and interscholastic sports. Also outside of school hours, those will be painted for Pickleball as that is a growing popular sport," said Volpe.
  • Triangle Elementary School - A new playground was installed and the district is awaiting final inspection. A new sidewalk and fence will be installed shortly
  • Hillsborough High School:
    • The fire shutter project, which has been years in the making, is coming to completion at the end of August
    • Replacement of stadium lighting is underway. The first set of lights was installed and the project should be done by Aug. 23
    • Shop rooms, which had an antiquated and old dust collector, installation is complete
  • Sunnymead Elementary School - Construction is in the early stages for the new pavilion with onsite preparation and concrete pouring completed. The structure build should begin soon.
