1. 5 Hillsborough Students Named 2027 National Merit Semifinalists (patch.com) — Hillsborough residents can celebrate five Hillsborough High School seniors who have been named 2027 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, placing them among the top scorers nationwide. These students now move on in the rigorous application process, where most semifinalists become finalists and about half of finalists ultimately receive scholarships.
   

2. Hillsborough Elementary School Locked Out Due To Domestic Violence Assault (patch.com) — Parents and neighbors in Hillsborough learned that Hillsborough Elementary School briefly went into a lockout after a domestic violence assault was reported at a nearby Route 206 shopping mall. Police quickly apprehended the suspect, there was no direct threat to students, and the secure hold was lifted in under an hour.
   

3. Hillsborough Honors 4 Officers For Saving Man's Life, Heroic Actions (patch.com) — Hillsborough residents are hearing how four township police officers helped save a 64-year-old man who collapsed on Fisher Drive in July, using CPR, oxygen, and a defibrillator until EMTs arrived. The man later fully recovered, and Mayor Catherine Payne and Police Chief Michael McMahon publicly honored the officers' quick response and training at a recent Township Committee meeting.
   

4. Route 206 Self-Storage Hearing In Hillsborough Postponed Until 2027 (patch.com) — Hillsborough residents following development along Route 206 will see a delay in plans for a three-story, 710-unit self-storage facility next to the Quick Chek gas station, after the applicant requested more time to revise plans. The Board of Adjustment pushed the public hearing to its January 20, 2027 reorganization meeting, where a new date will be set, while related projects advance in Somerville and Bridgewater.
   

5. Hillsborough Single Mom Facing Breast Cancer Seeks Help With Bills (patch.com) — A Hillsborough single mom, recently diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine mammogram, is facing mounting medical and household bills while preparing for multiple surgeries and time away from work. She's raising a 13-year-old daughter alone and must pay to keep her health insurance during disability leave. Friends have launched a GoFundMe to help cover treatment, groceries, and everyday expenses.
