Pedestrian Dies After Hit By Train In Somerset County
The incident happened late Saturday night in the area of South Street near the VFW in Manville.
MANVILLE, NJ — A man was hit by a Norfolk Southern freight train late on Saturday night and died, said Manville Police.
On Sept. 30 at 10:33 p.m., police were called to the area of South Street near the VFW on the report of a pedestrian being hit by a train.
Police found a dead man next to the railroad tracks. Detectives later identified the victim as a 50-year-old Manville man, said Manville Police Lt. John Crater.

An investigation showed the man was hit by an eastbound Norfolk Southern freight train. The 13th Avenue crossing was closed for several hours while police investigated.
Norfolk Southern Police and the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office helped in the investigation.
