Security Officer Hired To Address Safety Issue At Hillsborough HS
The Hillsborough Board of Education approved the creation of a new position for a building monitor at its Monday meeting.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — A new building monitor position was created and hired to address safety issues at Hillsborough High School.
The Board of Education voted on Monday night to approve the creation of an additional Building Monitor at Hillsborough High School effective Oct. 29.
"The Board believes that it is in the best interest of the school district to create the above-referenced position that was not originally budgeted," according to the resolution.

Board member Cynthia Nurse, who sits on the Human Resources Committee, said this position was created after discussing security at the high school between the 300 and 800 wings.
"Unfortunately locking those doors is not working as well as hoped because of the amount of traffic trying to get through to their classes," said Nurse on Monday. "We talked about an additional security person at the high school so we can open those doors until we can find a more permanent solution. Hopefully, a construction solution that doesn’t involve other personnel."
