Somerset County Bridge In Montgomery To Close For 4 Weeks

The construction will cause a segment of Belle Mead-Blawenburg Road to be fully closed to vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic.

MONTGOMERY, NJ — A Somerset County bridge over Back Brook in Montgomery will close for about four weeks, depending on weather, for replacement beginning on Friday.

The construction will cause a segment of Belle Mead-Blawenburg Road (CR 601), north of Grandview Road and south of West Dutchtown Harlingen Road (CR 604) to be fully closed to vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic for the replacement of County Bridge No. D0303.

A detour route will be posted along Belle Mead-Blawenburg Road (CR 601), Route 206 and Georgetown-Franklin Turnpike (CR 518).

The 13-foot single-span bridge has been classified as structural deficient and also functionally obsolete.

The new bridge will consist of a precast concrete three-sided rigid frame supported on precast concrete footings, and with precast concrete wingwalls. The roadway width will be increased to 36-feet curb-to-curb through the bridge limits, to be consistent with previous bridge replacements along CR 601 north and south.
