Staff at Somerset Valley YMCA lauded for dedication, service

The Somerset Valley YMCA recently honored 11 employees with a special recognition award for going above and beyond their job responsibilities in serving members and their communities in 2013, and also gave out awards to 27 staff members for their many years of service.

 Among those recognized was Irene Calabrese, who was honored for her 25 years of service. Mrs. Calabrese is manager of accounts payable and payroll.

 “These award winners have served the Somerset Valley YMCA with a lot of dedication. We are pleased to recognize them for their extraordinary efforts to provide quality service in their positions, and for making an impact in the communities we serve,” said David Carcieri, CEO.

Staff honored at an awards breakfast May 8 were from the areas of child care and education, membership, fitness, youth development, and aquatics.

The nonprofit Somerset Valley YMCA serves 10,000 members in its Bridgewater, Hillsborough and Somerville branches.

Staff honored for excellence were: Barbara Adam, program assistant, Matthew Donovan, director of competitive swimming, Judith Vittek, aqua exercise instructor, and Christopher Ward, membership staff from the Bridgewater Branch; Pamela Ambrose and Douglas McLaughlin, fitness instructors, Matt Gray, camp and program director, Mariah King, infant teacher, Kimberly Santaromita, after-school counselor and Lisa Slover, aquatics director, all from the Hillsborough Branch; and Pamela Granick, aqua exercise instructor in Somerville. 

Certificates were also awarded to those who have worked for the YMCA organization for five, 10, and 25 years. The 10-year honorees were Lori Arrechea, yoga instructor and Rachel Covert, gymnastics coach in Somerville, Eric Horowitz and Robert Rynone, swim coaches in Bridgewater, and Susan Barberio, membership staff, and  Janet Yarka, fitness instructor in Hillsborough. 

Recognized for 15-year-careers with the Y were Adele Lepinsky, pre-K teaching assistant, and Adele Morgan, swim coach and organizer of the Hillsborough Hop.
